Melody For Murder... Just the title alone makes your mind wonder ! The words used to describe different scenarios are amazing. I did not read the whole book yet but I can not wait for it to come out. I just read the excerpt from the Melody for Murder and its just soooo good that I was upset I could not keep reading and find out the rest of the story. I give it 5 stars!

New idea on the way! My friend, Mardi Ellen, has developed an innovative way to market music in this crazy music world! She has developed an encrypted music CD that decodes a mystery series she has developed. The series is Davinci Code meets Atonement meets King Lear. What's interesting about it is this series uses her proprietary product, Mend TM, that is a new interactive media model, publishers, look out! I think it will be a great opportunity for songwriters and singers to get their music out there!

Mardi-Ellen has created a fantastic world with highly complex characters who are involved in centuries-old struggles to maintain a famous family's control of power and secrets important to all mankind. This fabulous and intriguing story is told on so many levels, and with so many significant interactions, that it demands a high level computer games designer to develop and market a game for Wii, Nintendo, and X Box players. The battles and contests between the forces of good and evil are found everywhere in the story. The murder cries out for a solution! Who will design the games which will bring the players into the pathways to solution if only the obstacles can be overcome?
As a grandfather of five, all games players, I'm ready to buy this game!

In the high stakes world of power, money, and prestige everyone is consciously or subconsciously prepped to imagine the unimaginable about the people entangled, better yet entrenched in it. They wonder about the elite lineage, fantasize about the origins and their lives, marvel as the dynasties subsist, and speculate about their validity. But always there's that question of "Why her, what makes her sooo special?" Mardi answers it phenomenally! It was my privilege to have read this book. This is an incredible story that shows just how far back the breadcrumbs go into the original forest. Why its so hidden and dangerous, and why it can be so lonely yet so beautiful all at the same time. Thank you for writing such an alluring and exquisite piece. Thank you for keeping it intelligent but young and of course technical. There are so many great angles, well done Madame. Bezu

I love the descriptions of Mirabel's song and the way it moves around the village. But I particularly love the way the song reverberates through the world after his death, leading the Abbess to echo its melody in her movements, affecting even the way the stars seem to pulse. A wonderful depiction of the way sound stays with us forever!

I think this has great legs. I can see where with a computer game you could have people compose their own musical responses, use musical codes for entering some rooms or passages, let people identify themselves and others by musical passages. This is a really underused facility of the computer and web. The game possibilities are fabulous especially for using this idea to help teach music to some people. I want to see where this goes!!

Mardi Ellen is one of the unique authors who can take you on a journey that goes way beyond your imagination. Like Octavia Butler she is able to weave a complexed system of characters and plots that keep the reader awe struck from beginning to end. The musical family portrayed are not only strong, powerful and intimidating but also vulnerable and likeable. I expect great things from Mardi Ellen in the future.

Music and murder, computers and confrontation, drama and a dysfunctional family reach over more than six and a half centuries in this first chapter of Melody and Murder by Mardi-Ellen Hill. The interplay of different media of art with updated cybernetics is fascinating and surprising. The cast of warring characters is large and their psychological entanglements are intriguing. We wait eagerly for the next chapter.

Many aspects of the modern (and medieval) creative world are tied together in a new way, especially as involves music. Also this work shows promise of developing into a real mystery thriller.

Mardi-Ellen Hill has succeeded in delivering the definitive artistic work of our information age. Her unique Arabesque weaves technology, visual art, music, fable and deep socio-political commentary in a way which accomplishes what few have dreamt possible: to acutely interpret not just an era, but the present era, while bringing us ever forward. With this primally enticing and intellectually sophisticated body of work that not only intertwines but also invents bright new technologies and disciplines, Ms. Hill has arrived as a modern day Da Vinci whose craft has only just begun to seduce, inspire and educate.

Several years ago I had the pleasure of going to the Nagouchi studio museum in Queens. I had long been interested in his work and was looking forward to seeing a large number of his pieces together in one place. I found his work fascinating and while I didn't always “get it” at first I knew there was something incredibly interesting and profound there and it deserved my time and attention and that these works would reward my curiosity with greater understanding and knowledge.
When I first met Mardi and began to hear about her project I had a similar feeling. She has created a beautiful and complex world that rewards the reader/participant with a continuing vista of wonder. Her story is second only to the amazing struggle to create it. Both stories are fascinating and the creation of this saga is all the more riveting because it is real.
A amazing journey awaits those who begin this story.

Looking forward to the results of an adept orchestration of various artistic and scientific disciplines, realizable only by someone with a correspondingly vast range of knowledge, talent, and creativity, from which one can expect an inventive artwork and a unique entertainment format.

I finished the soliloquy and wow. Intensely sad. Thought provoking. The mystery is all around. A short glimpse into a life cut so short and the reasons surrounding why. Powerful beginning, too. Very metaphorically sound.

This is an exciting and innovative concept.Mardi combines suspense and mystery in an original way which challenges musical and mathematical boundaries within a story with layers of hidden meanings.I can't wait to see this published!

  16. I am excited for the book to come out and for the rollout of related media to begin. This blog is evidence of just how adaptable Mardi's ideas (both this series and the model of the entire concept) are to whatever technology is current ... and to whatever comes along next and after that...

  17. It is certainly an appetite wetter and a curiosity peaker. While intimidated by the vastness of the concepts, I am particularly intrigued by the applications of the science of music. I can't wait to find out how this unfolds. Mardi is a shining star, an intrepid raconteur, superior artisan and technician, that has successfully woven passion with pragmatism. She has created a world both entertaining and thought provoking, and, if I understand correctly, providing many twists and surpises. Good luck Mardi, we're ready for you!
